Brittney & Darrell's Wedding, September 26, 2010

Come rain or shine this wedding was going to happen.  A simply beautiful couple, Brittney & Darrel, had everyone's attention on their wedding day.  The sun was not out but the atmosphere was surely charged with love and romance.  The ceremony & reception took place at 1705 Prime in Raleigh, a cool and hip spot with southern charm on the outside and contemporary savy on the interior.  I would like to thank Robert Filcsik for his great shots of the day...without amazing photograpers, like Robert, some photos of the flowers would be not be the same!
Gorgeous bridesmaids' bouquets of large white callas (3 per bouquet) were sleek and elegant....a must for the bride's theme.  The maid of honor held a simple and romantic bouquet of ivory roses.
The groom and groomsmen had simple mini white callas as their boutonnieres.

Ahhhh...the dress.  Not to distract from the intricate styling of the dress, the bridal bouquet was a grouping of white hydrangeas, ivory roses and white mini callas.
The altar arrangement served as a subtle back drop to the ceremony.  White hydrangeas, antique hydrangeas, white mums and pink & green dendrobium orchids set in a classic white ceremic urn just glowed in the soft light of the afternoon.

Ivory Chinese Paper Lanterns lined the brick ceremonial walk.  Hung from ivory satin ribbon on black shepherd hooks, the look is simple yet dramtic.
The funky light in 1705 Prime's central foyer set the tone to keep it refined with orchid stems in tall glass vases and another white urn with branches and haning votives.

Flower of the Week: Hyacinth

The lovely and eternal early spring bloomer: Hyacinth.
Hyacinthus orientalis (HY-ah-SINTH-us    or-ee-en-TAY-lis)
Meanings: Playful,  Young Love and Loveliness
Availability: January, February, March & April
Characteristics: Clusters of 1"-2" star shaped flowers form a rounded spike on 6"-8" stems
Colors: White, lavender, light blue, dark blue, purple, lavender, pinks peach and yellow
Lasting: 3-7 days as a cut flower
Special Interest: Fragrant
Uses: Bouquets, short centerpieces, stems submerged in water or floating blooms.

A simple bouquet, perfect for bridesmaids or flower girls.  Either a mix of colors or a single color works well.  The leaves/ foliage of the hyacinth is a nice add for the bouquet...a touch of spring green that compliments the blues and purple and the light green ribbon wrap.

A mix bouquet for a Spring Bride.  This bouquet showcases a garden style of spring blooms that includes blue hyacinths, white tulips, and plum sweet peas.
Love Pink?  Try the deep pinks of the hyacinths on its own for a stunning bouquet.  Antique Pink Roses are a soft counter-balance to the rich color and texture of the hyacinth.

A low glass bowl filled with spring flowers gives the centerpice a casual but elegant appearance.  Bright Pink Hyacinths mixed with pink tulips, light pink roses, sweet peas and touches of greenery are randomly overlapped in the bowl.  The added votives and light pink rose petal scatter fill the table with a soft glow.
A simple solution for centerpieces?  Try just 1-2 stems of hyacinths in a glass cylinder or cube.  Contemporary yet classic.
Cool colors not your thing?  Warm it up with sunny Yellow or Peach Hyacinths.  I love the "sunset" affect of these flowers.  A range of colors is evident in the blooms as the flowers open.

A bouquet of Yellow Hyacinths, yellow tulips, yellow mini callas and daffodils is the epitome of spring.  Pair this bright yellow bouquet with a simple white tulip bouquet and your wedding will fill the day with pure sunshine.

Jess & Rodney's Wedding, October 2010

Stunning...Jess & Rodney's simple evening wedding affair was a beautiful event.  Beautiful callas  for the bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages in shades of red, plum, eggplant and black just glowed.
All Saints Chapel in Raleigh was a perfect setting for the wedding.  The size of the space is very intimate...just right for a small wedding.
'Black Magic' Roses were placed on the front pews in memory of loved ones.
Love the fun after the ceremony!

Deep red cymbidium orchid blooms graced the wedding cake.

Thank you to Jess & Rodney for sharing these photos with me!  And, thank you to Cheryl Manning who took these amazing photos.

Renne & Dave's Fall Wedding Reception, November 2010

Lanterns hung from shepherd hooks line the
brick walk of 1705 Prime venue.  This is a
great look no matter what month the
                                                     wedding is planned.
Manzanita branches with hanging glass votives...
adds a perfect glow to the dining room.
                                            I love 1705 Prime's hostess stand/ entry foyer.
A perfect space for lots of visual items and height.

A bit more of that "Rock & Fall" combined theme...pumpkins,
gourds, leaves and custom made table markers made out
                                         of 45 records.

A nice lasting impression of a great night and a wonderful
                                           wedding event.

Renee & Dave's 'Rock & Fall Wedding', November 2010

What a great photo!  So many thank-you's to Renee & Dave
for sharing these amazing photos that Poetic Reality
Productions photographed for their special Fall Wedding.
Dave's 'Rock 'N Roll' Personality shines thru in his boutonniere...
the skull pin added a bit of fun and humor.  Love it!
The 'Ring of Fire' Sunflowers, Ranunculus, Orchids and
fall leaves were just perfect for the day.
Awesome Orchid Corsages for the women.
Fresh and young!  Not your typical "prom" look.
The men's boutonnieres were masculine and cool
with orange ranunculus, berries and wheat.
Love this detail of the bouquet...
